Thomann, Norma Jeanette
Norma Jeanette Thomann, 81, of Iowa City, formerly of Riverside, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Briarwood Health Care Center in Iowa City. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Father Marty Goetz will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Following the committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship will be held at the St. Mary's Parish Center. Visitation for Jeanette will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Riverside with a 7 p.m. prayer service.
A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in memory of Jeanette.

Norma Jeanette Ziegler was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Verna (Beatty) Ziegler. Jeanette was a 1948 graduate of Lone Tree High School. On July 12, 1950, Jeanette was united in marriage to Norbert Lawrence Thomann at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside. Jeanette was a dietitian for University of Iowa Hillcrest dormitory for many years where she enjoyed serving and interacting with the Hawkeye student athletes and the coaches at training table meals. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Riverside and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Jeanette will be deeply missed by her children, John Thomann and his wife, Marilyn of Liberty, Mo., Deborah Yoder and her husband, Ron of Casper, Wyo., David Thomann and his wife, Susie of Grimes and Randy Thomann and his wife, Marcia of Coralville; four grandchildren, Kari, Katie, Allison and Kyle; one great-grandchild, Brock; and one sister Marilyn Sampson of Hudson, Wis.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norbert on May 2, 1987; one niece, Sherrie; and two nephews, Michael and Steve.
