Thiessen, LaVoy Mearl 'Bud'
LaVoy Mearl “Bud” Thiessen, 87, of Chelsea, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at his home in rural Chelsea. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, with Pastor Brian Gumm officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marlene of Chelsea; his children, LaVoy M. “Sam” Jr. (Janet) Thiessen of Parker, Colo., Randall “Joe” (Becky) Thiessen of Toledo, Michael P. (Kathy) Thiessen of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, and Sheryl K. (George) Shank of Long Grove, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ina Mae Callahan of Dysart, his twin sister, LaVon Novak of Belle Plaine, and Ruth Suchy of Belle Plaine; and many nieces and nephews.
