Theodore S. Nelson, 79, of Naperville, Ill., formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away Aug. 11, 2017, in Naperville. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, Faith Lutheran Church, 3000 Liberty Dr., Aurora, Ill., with Pastor Rob Doublas officiating. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a
later date.
Survivors include cousins, David Silseth and Lynne Weber and others.
He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Dec. 12, 1937. Ted graduated from Wilson High School in 1956 and from the University of Iowa in 1963, after having served in the Army from 1960 to 1962. Ted worked as a casualty underwriter of large commercial accounts, with assignments in various cities. As a result of a transfer to the Chicago area in 1969, he located in Aurora. In 2005, Ted established the Theodore Silseth Nelson Scholarship Endowment Fund under the Community Organization of the Fox River Valley; www.communityfoundationfrv.org/profile/nelson-theodore-scholarship/.
