Douds
Thelma M. Williams, 87, formerly of Douds, died at 2:01 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014, at Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren Hospice, Keosauqua.
She was born Oct. 10, 1927, in Hockerville, Okla., to Harrison and Goldie Arnheart Hodge, and married Alva Ray Williams on May 26, 1946, in Oklahoma. He died June 9, 2011.
Thelma grew up in Oklahoma and with her husband, lived many years in Cedar Rapids until moving in 2007 to Douds, where she lived until entering the Good Samaritan Center in June 2011. She had worked for The Salvation Army and Wilson Foods and did volunteer work for AMVETS, all in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are three sons, Alva Williams Jr. (Cathy) of Cedar Rapids, Jerry Williams (Doris) of Douds and Rick Williams (Tammy) of Center Point; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse and Orville Hodge, and a sister, Ethel Osborne.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Visitation, with family present, will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday before the service. Burial will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds.
