A celebration of life for Thelma L. Horsey, 106, of Washington, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at
Beatty Funeral Home in Washing-ton. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at Beatty Funeral Home, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
A memorial fund has been established for the great-grandchildren's education.
Thelma Horsey died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at the McCreedy Home in Washington.
Thelma Louisa (Derby) Horsey was born in Clear Creek Township, Keokuk County, on Oct. 1, 1908, the daughter of Charles and Christina (Sanner) Derby. She moved to Washington in 1923 and was united in marriage to Cloyce Horsey at the Presbyterian parsonage on Dec. 3, 1933.
Thelma was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Washington and worked at a variety of jobs in Washington.
Survivors include her son, David Horsey of Washington; two grandsons, Kyle Horsey of Washington and Guy (Andrea) Horsey of Marion; one great- grandson, Ryan Horsey; and two stepgreat-granddaughters, Meredith and Hannah Roethler.
Preceding Thelma in death were her husband in 1951 and daughter-in-law, Joyce Horsey.
Thelma was the last of a family of 12 children.
