The Rev. Nancy Jane Lashmit, 72, of Tipton, changed addresses and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at 12:10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, while she stayed in Cedar Manor. A memorial fund in Nancy's honor has been established. In honoring Nancy's final request, there will be no services.
Nancy was born Nov. 2, 1943, in Cedar Rapids to Vergil Eugene and Venetta Lazetta (Stiles) Griffis. She graduated from Tipton High School with the class of 1962 and then attended and graduated in 1966 from Mount Vernon Bible College in Mount Vernon, Ohio. Nancy was an ordained minister of the International Church of Foursquare Gospel and co-pastored the Calvary Foursquare Church in Tipton from 1982 to 2000 with her husband, Ron.
On July 4, 1964, Nancy was united in marriage to Ronald E. Lashmit in Tipton, Iowa. Together they were blessed with three sons: Ronald II, Philip and Charles. In addition to being a minister, mother and wife, Nancy was proud of her title as "Grandma."
Nancy is survived by her husband, Ron; sons, Ronald II of Tipton, Philip (Jill) of North Liberty and Charles (Kerry) of Tipton; siblings, Virgil Jr., Theodore "Ted," Kenneth, the Rev. Rebecca McCaslin, David, Edward and Patricia Long; stepsiblings, Leonard Lashmit, the Rev. Ron Lashmit, Emily Lashmit and Ruth Slusher; and seven grandchildren.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Ellis Lashmit; and mother-in-law, the Rev. Katherine Lashmit.
