Terry Zabokrtsky, 79, of Walford, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021. As per Terry's wishes a private Funeral Mass was held at St. John XXIII Catholic Church and burial in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
Terry was born May 5, 1942, in Amana, the son of Milo and Cecelia (Schulte) Zabokrtsky. He graduated from Walford High School. Terry was united in marriage to Glenice Becker, to which two children were born. They later divorced. He was united in marriage to Donna Freese on Dec. 29, 2001. Terry, Dan and Lola Leary owned and operated Zeb's Oil in Walford for many years. Later he joined with Gordon Sorg to establish the Walford Mini-Mart. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, being active in his Church and, most of all, spending time with his family, especially the grandkids.
Terry is survived by his son, Joel (Anne) Zabokrtsky of Fairfax; eight grandchildren, Blaine, Amelia, Ethan, Alex, Mary, Braden, Korbin and Ashlyn; his nephew, Dave (Mary) Leary; two nieces, Susan (Mike) Malloy and Lisa (Pete) Lueninghoener; and a son-in-law, Todd (Diane) Rumbo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna; his daughter, Gwen Rumbo; and his sister, Lola Leary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either Fairfax Fire Department or St. Jude Hospital in his name.
