Terry Wayne Evans, 85, of Springville, Iowa, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Sally’s on Broadway in Springville. Private family inurnment will be held at Springville Cemetery in Springville.
Terry was born on March 7, 1940, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Lyle and Margaret (Port) Evans. He was a 1957 graduate of Martelle High School and went on to attend the University of Iowa. On March 4, 1960, Terry was united in marriage to Karen Lenz in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked at O’Dea Financial before starting at Rockwell Collins, where he remained until his retirement. Terry was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church in Springville. He was a longtime member of the Springville community and a devoted supporter of local sports. Terry coached Babe Ruth Baseball, and later served as a State and Regional Commissioner for several years and ultimately was inducted into the Babe Ruth Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Springville Tractor Pullers Association and was a Hall of Fame announcer for the East Central Iowa Tractor Pullers Association, where he was well known and respected.
Terry generously volunteered as an announcer for numerous sporting events and faithfully attended the athletic activities of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a lover of golf and a member of Meadowview Country Club and Wapsipinicon Country Club. Terry will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his community, and the sports he loved.
Terry is survived and lovingly remembered by his four children, Rick (Janet) Evans of Springville, Vickie (Steve) Fish of Marion, Randy (Marcia) Evans of Tiffin, and Ryan (Shelly) Evans of Tiffin, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Karen, on January 23, 2023; and half-brother, David Fisher.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Terry’s name may be directed to the family to be designated later.
