Terry McElmeel, 61, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Jones Regional Medical Center, Anamosa, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services.

Surviving are two children, Brian (Deze'Rae Horstman) McElmeel, and his daughters, Alexandra and Haley, and Brittany (Josh) Ries, and their daughter, Nova, all of Monticello; and his siblings, Linda (Danny) Bauer, Sue (Leo) Tjaden and John (Sheryl) McElmeel, all of Monticello, Shirley (Bob) Storm, South Carolina, Tom (DJ) McElmeel, Anamosa, and Eugene McElmeel, Cascade.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Gerald in 1945, Ernie in 2001 and Carlyn Petlon in 2011.
Terrence W. McElmeel was born Oct. 28, 1953, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the son of Eugene and Florence Wolfe McElmeel. Terry graduated from Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1971. He was employed at Georgia Pacific, Ernie McElmeel Construction and Downing Box Co. Terry married Lynne Martinsen on Dec. 7, 1974. They later divorced. For many years he was employed by Dave Schmitt Construction as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 2011.
Terry was a member of Local 234 of the International Union of Operating Engineers.
