Terry was born May 14, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Henry and Eunice (Hite) Edler. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966. Terry joined the United States Army, serving honorably for 22 years. While serving, he spent two years in Vietnam. On June 25, 1966, Terry married Marjorie Root at Bethany Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids. After retiring from the Army in 1988, he went on to work for Chesapeake Display & Packing and Sonoco Packing in Iowa City, Iowa, retiring in 2011. Terry was a member of the Waltonian Archery Club of Toddville, Iowa. He was a hard worker. Even while serving in the Army, Terry would work part-time just so Marjorie could stay at home with their sons. His family always came first. He loved riding motorcycles, camping, fishing, archery and target shooting. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Terry is lovingly survived by his wife of 52 years, Marjorie Edler of Cedar Rapids; sons, Scot (Lynn) Edler of Edinburg, Texas, Todd (Renee) Edler of Anamosa, Iowa, and Rodney Edler of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Maranda Hudacky and Alan, Wesley, Elijah, Todd Jr., Tyler and Katrina Edler; sister, Lori (Clarke) Hawbacker of Minburn, Iowa; brothers, Henry Edler III of Bolivar, Mo., and Dennis (Caroline) Edler of Saginaw, Mich.; and brother-in-law, Larry Wisner of Belle Plaine, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eunice Edler; and sister, Patricia Wisner.
We would like to thank his doctors and nurses for their care.
