Terry Cepowski, 78, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died of cancer Sept. 28, 2014, in Springfield, Mo.
Graveside inurnment service: 1 p.m. Oct. 2 by the U.S. Navy at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, with his late wife, Pat.
Terry was born Sept. 7, 1936, to John and Delta (Kersten) Cepowski in Cedar Rapids. At 17, he left McKinley High School to join the Navy. He retired 20 years later as a Chief Petty Officer.
Terry married Sharon Kline (deceased) and Sherie Hanson. After divorces he married Patsy Brandt (deceased). To those marriages were born Debbie, Terry, Ellen and Tina.
Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; stepson, James; sisters, Phyllis Grommon (Tom) and Linda Krauss (Don); nieces and nephews; and loving companion, Karen St. John Lyons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son; and wife, Pat.
In the Navy, he was a deep sea diver in Explosive Ordnance Disposal and later trained dolphins as a Marine Mammal Trainer for three years.
A proud moment in his life was in 2007, when he won the Wal-Mart Fishing League Missouri State Championship.
He also was very proud to serve his country.
