Terronez, Lynn Marie (Ackley)
Lynn Marie (Ackley) Terronez, 56, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, after battling a long lung illness. Celebration of Life: noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at Union Station, 1724 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Lynn was born July 11, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of James Lee and Velma Jean Ackley. She attended Kennedy High School and Jefferson High School and lived her life in Cedar Rapids. Lynn worked various jobs, everything from warehouse work to tending bar and even a little security work at times. She was also very talented when it came to decorating and design.
She had a great love for music. Lynn learned the guitar by being inspired by her father at a young age and became a self-taught guitarist, playing by ear the same way he played. She played in local bands throughout her life and prided herself on being able to play anything. She enjoyed playing for everyone and to have them join in, tap their feet, and sing along.
Lynn was very family-oriented and enjoyed getting together for the holidays, reunions, or just hanging out at someone's house with a nice fire or barbecue. She also had a great love for all of her family and her cat, Shapayo.
She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer (Shane) Vance and Jamie Hochstetler; sisters, Gail (Tom) Kester, Cathy (Rick) Henry and Jodie (Brian) Ackley; brother, James (Denise) Ackley; grandchildren, Tyler and Mason; and many nieces and nephews.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents.
The family especially thanks St. Luke's Hospice, including Peggy and Bobbi Jo. Lynn looked forward to their visits. Also thank you to Living Center East and the staff for making her days comfortable and full of entertainment. Thank you!
Rest in peace Mom, Sister, and Friend. Spread your wings and soar with the angels somewhere over the rainbow. We all love and miss you!
Memorials may be directed to Bank of the West c/o the Lynn Terronez Memorial Fund.
