Terrell “Terry” Blackbourn, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Alison Dix officiating. A burial with military rites will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Terry was born on November 10, 1945, in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the son of Lloyd and Ruth (Eastman) Blackbourn. After graduation, he served honorably in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam Conflict, from 1963 until 1966. Terry served aboard the USS Springfield as a radio communications specialist. He met the love of his life, Donna Paugh in Cedar Rapids. They were united in marriage on October 14, 1972, in Palmyra, Missouri. Terry worked as an operation data technician at the University of Iowa from 1983 until his retirement in 2012.
Terry was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. He was on the board of trustees and very dedicated to his church. He enjoyed the great outdoors, especially his yearly fishing trips to Canada with his sons-in-law and grandchildren. Terry was a lifelong cowboy, taking care of his hat, boots, and his horse, Mr. Stash. The three things that were most important to Terry were his family, his faith, and living life to its fullest. He was a great father, husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Angela (Wayne) Handeland and Sheilah (Russell) Martin all of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Holly (Ryan) Kardell, Sabrina, Ryan, and Hunter; 2 great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Kyler; a brother, Kenneth (Ruthann) Blackbourn of Dixon, Illinois; a sister, Jo Ellen (Tom Rupnow) Roche of Monroe, Wisconsin; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his spouse Donna S. Blackbourn, and a brother Dennis Blackbourn.
