Terrance "Terry" James Hagemann, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 26, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Terry lived a full and vibrant life rooted deeply in family, and friendship.
A proud United States Marine, Terry served his country with honor during the Vietnam War. Terry dedicated his career to the Cedar Rapids Community School District, retiring in 2012 as the Supervisor of the Transportation Center Mechanic Shop. His hard work and leadership left a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.
Terry was a devoted husband to Beverly (Cummings) Hagemann, his childhood sweetheart and partner of more than 54 years. Their story began as friends in grade school and their love endured a lifetime. After retirement, Terry and Bev enjoyed wintering in southern Florida, where they built a close-knit circle of friends and created warm memories for their children and grandchildren who often visited to escape the Midwest cold. Bev passed away in 2024, and Terry missed her dearly.
Terry had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. He was affectionately known as “Pops” among his Harley-riding buddies, with whom he spent countless joyful hours touring the Midwest. He passed his love of riding on to his sons, John and Jeff, who frequently joined him on the road.
Terry is survived by his sons John Hagemann (Cortney) and Jeff Hagemann (Jeniffer), and by three children from a previous relationship: Timothy Mason (Christine), Jennifer Schroeder (Todd), and Mikki McSpadden (Ted). He was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather, lovingly known as “Grumpy Grandpa” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Terry’s life was one of strength, humor, and deep connection. He will be remembered for his loyalty, his stories, and his unwavering love for his family and friends.
A private family gathering will be held at Teahen Funeral Home to honor Terry’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to a veterans’ charity of your choice.
