Teresa A. Peiffer, 65, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Visitation will begin at noon on Monday, Nov. 19, 2018, at the Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at the Memorial Chapel. Gifts of love and friendship may be given to Ben Peiffer for his son's medical needs. Born Aug. 28, 1953, in Ottumwa, Iowa, Teresa Ann was the daughter of Dewey and Helen (Blanchard) Greenland. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teresa earned an associate degree in horticulture and a second degree in accounting from Kirkwood College. She graduated with a double major in sociology and psychology from Iowa Wesleyan College. On July 12, 1997, Teresa married Benjamin L. Peiffer at Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mount Pleasant.

While living in Cedar Rapids, Teresa worked at Hawkeye Seed as an accountant and administrative assistant. She then worked at Cedar Rapids Power Sports as an accountant. Following her move to Mount Pleasant in 1993, she worked for Young House Family Services and then the Foster Care Review Board. Over many years, Teresa and her husband fostered over 50 children.

A voracious reader, Teresa especially enjoyed reading historical accounts and mysteries. She made blankets for family and friends and used her skills as a seamstress when alterations and mending needed taken care of. She volunteered many hours at Wisdom Quest Alternative High School. With plenty of love for all, Teresa's greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Along with her loving husband, Ben, of 21 years; Teresa is survived by two sons, Marcus (Brittany) Myers of Palm Coast, Fla., and Zachariah Benjamin Peiffer of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; a daughter, Elizabeth Irene Peiffer of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; four grandchildren, Chloe, Vaughn, Dewey and Charlie Myers of Palm Coast, Fla.; and extended family, Brecia Settle of Jacksonville, Fla., and Amanda (Josh) Bandeko and their children, Adalynn and Emma, all of Etowah, N.C. She is also survived by a sister, Shela (Mike) Garcia of Champaign, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Cassie (Danny) Isaac of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Danny Peiffer of Sabula, Iowa, and Bill Ellison of Fairview, Iowa; along with numerous nephews; and her favorite niece, Alyssa Isaac.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents.
