Telecky, Loretta E.
Loretta E. Telecky, 99, of Solon, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2011, at Hallmark Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Brosh Chapel-Solon. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will follow at Rogers Grove Cemetery, near Ely.
Loretta was born Nov. 5, 1911, in Crandon, Wis. Loretta married John S. Telecky on May 31, 1930, at Crandon. They lived much of their married life in the West, where John taught school. In 1952, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where John became head of the Department of Education at Westminster College. While there, Loretta resumed nurses training which she began before their marriage and worked in a local Salt Lake City hospital for a number of years.
After retiring in 1970, they moved to Fallon, Nev., and later back to Crandon. After her husbands' death in 1989, Loretta eventually moved to Walden Place in Iowa City, to be closer to her son and wife who live in Solon. The enjoyment of her latter years was being close enough to be involved in the numerous family get-togethers, with all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After living at Walden Place for 16 years, various health issues initiated the move to Hallmark Care Center.
Loretta is survived by her son, James and wife Bess of Solon; and four granddaughters, Vicki (Sterling) Young of Clear Lake, Becky (Gary) Wilcox of Marion, Debbie (Dave) Blythe of rural Mount Vernon, and Terry (Bruce) Squires of Mechanicsville.
Loretta also enjoyed her nine great-grandchildren, Nicole (Brett) Eidahl, Brandon and Travis Young, Ben (Katie) Wilcox, Kristen (Justin) Carpenter, Jennifer (Brian) Mertes, Erin (Seth) Schaller, Brooke (Nathon) Logue and Dustin Smith. In addition, Loretta was so proud to still be around for the start of the fifth generation, upon the arrival of her great-great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Ryker Logue, Blake and Norah Eidahl and Spencer Carpenter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; a sister, Edith Tracy; and twin brothers, George and John Lambert.
