Ted Oglesby, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 28, 2025.
Ted was born to Leona and Buster Lubken in Bemidji, MN, and later adopted by Leona's then-husband, Bill Oglesby.
He graduated from Richland High School and The University of Denver, where he played basketball. Ted was a longtime basketball coach and multi-time Coach of the Year honoree. He spent 12 years at Missouri High Schools before moving to Iowa where he coached at Indian Hills, Kirkwood and ended his coaching career at Mt. Mercy College.
Ted is survived by his wife, Susan McCaskey Oglesby; children, Jason Oglesby, Lindsey Oglesby and Joshua Oglesby; stepdaughters Bre Bradford and Shelby Graf; grandchildren Jacob and Lauren Oglesby; stepgrandchildren Averi and Ayden Bradford; sisters, Charmaine Heisey and Sharon Hill; brother, James Oglesby; also Jane Oglesby and Donna Saylor. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of life will be held July 12 at 3 pm at Ellis Golf Course.
