Taylor, Abner Eugene
Abner Eugene Taylor, 80, of Solon, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17th. Burial will follow in Tioga Cemetery, rural Delta. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon. Brosh Chapel in Solon is in charge of arrangements.
Abner was born September 28, 1929, in Delta, the son of Glen and Ruth Coble Taylor. He graduated from Webster High School in 1947. He was in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He married Esther “Jean” Wyllie on December 21, 1952 at Sigourney United Methodist Church. They moved to Solon in 1966. Abner worked for Meyers Motors, Yoder Construction, Thompson Construction and for Burger Construction.
Abner is survived by his sons, Allen (Deb) of Iowa City, Glen (Libby) of North Liberty, Tim (Britta) of Ludwigsburg, Germany; daughters Donna (Michael) Canas of Washington, and Loris (Aaron) Morrison of Alburnett; 7 grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren, and 3 stepgreatgrandchildren; a brother James Taylor of Bloomington, Minnesota, and three sisters Glenna Fry, Juanita Elick, and Carolyn Taylor all of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Esther in 2006, an infant sister, a sister Donna and a brother Ronald.
