Tauber, Robert 'Mick' M.
Robert “Mick” M. Tauber, 47, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Mercy Hallmar after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at All Saint's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, where there will be a 5:30 p.m. vigil service.
Mick was born July 24, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Robert and Judy (Hays) Tauber. His nickname started a family tradition of naming family members after baseball players. He graduated from Washington High School. He attended Coe College and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1986.Mick worked for Iowa Southern Utility in Ottumwa, until moving to Pella. He received his Masters in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University while working at the Pella Power Plant. Mick moved to Bettendorf and worked for MidAmerican Energy until June of this year. Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing including fly-fishing, biking, watching sports and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He liked to travel, learning about history and family genealogy.
Robert is survived by his mother, Judy of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Michelle (Jim) Ortiz of Harlingen, Texas; brothers, Ted (Laurie) Tauber of Cedar Rapids, Ed (Kim) Tauber and Casey (Karen) Tauber, all of Dubuque; 12 nieces and nephews; as well as one great-niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 2004.
A memorial fund has been established in Mick's name at P.O. Box 10906, Cedar Rapids, IA 52410.
The family would like to send a special thank you to staff at Hallmar, Mercy Hospice, Dr. Uhm at the Mayo Clinic, and The Hope House in Rochester for the dedicated and loving care for Mick.
