Tanner DeWayne Wymer, 17, of Solon, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, in a tragic drowning accident on the Coralville Reservoir. Celebration of life services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
located at 1749 Racine Ave. NE, Solon. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Tanner was born April 19, 1998, in Iowa City, the son of Brad and Marcy (Gage) Wymer. He was a senior at Solon High School and planned to graduate in May. Tanner was an outstanding student and active in football, wrestling and track/field.
Tanner is survived by his parents; his loving brother, Jordan of Solon; his girlfriend, Alexandra Felton of Solon; his paternal grandparents, Ron and Coleen Wymer of West Union; maternal grandparents, Bob and Mardene Gage of Solon; great-grandmother, Berniece Carroll of Eldon; his aunts and uncles, Stacy (Bill) Peterson of Dubuque, Travis (Katie) Wymer of West Union, Curt (Sarah) Wymer of Decorah and David Gage of Des Moines; and his cousins, Reagan, Dane, Benjamin, Nathan, Lucas and Nicholas Wymer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Tanner Wymer Memorial Fund which has been established at Solon State Bank. A scholarship is being planned in his name.
