Cedar Rapids
Tammy Dee-Vaverka, 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021. A visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 14, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Tammy was born on Sept. 27, 1963, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Gene and JoAnn (Lier) Dee. In 1992, she was united in marriage to James "Jim" Vaverka. Tammy worked at Doc & Eddie's (which she managed with her brother for several years) and then worked at Collins Community Credit Union for 21 years until her retirement in December 2020. She loved Harley-Davidsons and the Raiders. Tammy was an animal lover, especially her Rottweiler, Buddy. As her brothers said, Tammy was the toughest woman you'd ever meet, but with the purest heart of gold you could find. She will be loved and missed by many.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Vaverka; parents, Gene and JoAnn Dee; brothers, Duane (Jim) Dee-Bentley, Chad (Lisa) Dee, Brad (Tiffany) Dee, and Matt (Alicia) Dee; sisters-in-law, Mary Brown, Diane Baker, Denise Gillespie, Jackie Achenbach, and their spouses and families; many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and many friends; special friend, Denese Gillen; and special dog companion, Buddy.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Cora Lier, and Clarence and Hazel Dee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
