Sylvia Juanita Kephart died Monday, Sept. 26, 2016,
at St. Luke's Hospital Hospice from complications of a lengthy battle with myositis. Visitation will be held from
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home with a graveside service to follow at 3 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; children, Timothy (Moira) Chase of Seattle, Wash., Randall (Tabitha) Chase of Marion, Jason Kephart of Cedar Rapids and Ryan Kephart of Marion; two grandchildren, Owen Chase and Christopher Kephart; and two siblings, Wayne (Shirley) Stockwell of Indianapolis, Ind., and Bruce (Pat) Stockwell of Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Kevin Kephart; and siblings, Dave Stockwell, Kathy Stockwell and Marlene Flores.
Sylvia was born June 15, 1947, in Oelwein, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dale and Nellie Fleming Stockwell. Sylvia was a 1965 graduate of Oelwein Senior High School. On July 26, 1974, Sylvia and Ralph Kephart were united in marriage in Oelwein.
Sylvia was a member of the Yellowstone National Park Association for a number of years. She was an avid amateur photographer. She loved cooking, sitting around the bonfire, traveling, especially to our national parks, reading, puzzle games and watching Jeopardy.
Sylvia and Ralph were soul mates from the start. She was devoted to her family; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
