Swim, Jeanette
Jeanette Swim, 90, of Monticello, died Monday morning, March 7, 2011, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 11, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with interment at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate at the service. Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m.

Jeanette is survived by two sons, David (Liz) Frickson Swim of Monticello, and Steven (Inge Bruckmann) Swim of San Diego, Calif.; four grandchildren and spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her parents; two brothers, Darrell and Oberland; son, Roger; and husband, Merritt; preceded her in death.
Jeanette Marie Egeland was born at home on Nov. 27, 1920, in Ossian, Iowa, daughter of Jens and Marie Egeland. She graduated school and then attended Upper Iowa, graduating with an elementary education teaching degree.
On Jan. 2, 1944, she married Merritt Swim, becoming the proud parents of three sons, David, Roger and Steven. They settled in Monticello in 1954. Jeanette worked as a substitute teacher for the Monticello School System for several years. She also taught piano to many Monticello young people over the years and was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, and will be missed dearly by those closest to her.
