Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church by Father Christopher Podhajsky. Burial will follow at Czech National Cemetery. The family will greet friends and family from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE, Cedar Rapids.
Rosie is survived by her son, David (Maureen) Sweeney of Walker; daughter, Diane (Mike) Devlin of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Amanda (Kendall) Bunney of Walker, Abby (Chad) Clapp of Cedar Rapids, Ashley Sweeney of Walker, Crystal and Cody Devlin of Cedar Rapids; four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Waiting to greet Rosie at Heaven's Gate was her beloved husband; her parents, Charles and Velma (Curttright) Lee; brother, Tommy Lee; and sister, Peggy Perrin.
Rose Mary was born March 13, 1935, in Cedar Rapids. She was united in marriage to Hugh J. Sweeney on Oct. 24, 1953, at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Hugh died June 15, 2000.
Rosie worked for many years in the office at Wilson Foods. She also worked at Mercy Medical Center and the Cedar Rapids School District until her retirement.
Rosie was a longtime member of Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church.
She had a great love for traveling and history. Rosie spent many hours playing cards with family and friends. Her greatest love, however, was her family. She spent many hours telling very animated stories about her past to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Rosie had an amazing quick wit and great sense of humor.
She will be missed by all who were blessed to have had Rosie in their lives.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Online condolences may be left for the family at www.papich-kubafs.com under “obituaries.”
