Swartzbaugh, Venoa Violet
Venoa Violet Swartzbaugh, 98, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the Urbana Christian Church in Urbana, with the Rev. Melanie Van Weelden officiating. Interment will be held at the Urbana Cemetery. Friends may register at the church from 9 a.m. until service time Friday.
Venoa was born June 27, 1915, in Urbana, to Walter and Opal (Rouse) Smith. She was a graduate of Iowa State Teachers College. On June 26, 1937, she was united in marriage to Don Swartzbaugh at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1976.
Venoa served as a bookkeeper at Vinton Hybrid Seed and at the Vinton Lutheran Home Office. She was a member of the Urbana Christian Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and T.T.T.
She is survived by her brother, Wayne (Pat) Smith of Jan Jose, Calif.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Merwin “Bud” Smith and her sisters, Neta Hanson and Donna Drum.
