Swanberg, Jon Weld
Jon Weld Swanberg, 68, of Huntington Beach, Calif., passed away Jan. 18, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jon graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in electrical engineering. Most of his career was with Hughes Aircraft in California, where he specialized in avionics. In 1972, he became a biomedical engineer. After a successful career in Bio-medics, he returned to avionics and retired from Honeywell International. During his career he traveled extensively in Europe, India and the Middle East as a field engineer.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia C. Swanberg; his nephew, Karl E. Swanberg; his niece, Amy Thompson; and many family and friends in southern California and the Mount Vernon High School Graduating Class of 1959.
A memorial service celebrating Jon's life will be scheduled in the future. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids is in charge of arrangements.
