Sutherlin, Eric Dale

Eric Dale Sutherlin, 61, of Chicago, formerly of Iowa City, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at his Sunrise of Lincoln Park apartment in Chicago. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Gay & Ciha Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

Eric was born Aug. 23, 1951, in Iowa City, the son of Robert Dale and Vilda Lausen Sutherlin. Following graduation from Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., he attended and later graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. He had worked in investment management for the firm of William Blair & Co. in Chicago for many years before his retirement.

His family includes his mother, Vilda Sutherlin of Iowa City; sister and her husband, Martha and Todd Martin of Dallas; and two nieces and their husbands, Alyssa and Burke Raine, and their son, Robert Sutherlin Raine, of Dallas, and Brittany and Jerry Graunke of Chicago.
