SUSANNE BOOTS
Mount Vernon
Susanne Boots, 66, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, passed away on Feb. 6, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.
Susanne was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Nadine; and brother, Douglas.
She is survived by her brothers, Mick of Mount Vernon, Phillip (Bev) of Mechanicsville, Randy (Sandy) of Mechanicsville and Brian (Bobbie) of Mechanicsville; and her beloved cat, "Treasure."
Susanne was born Oct. 25, 1951, to William "Bill" and Bette Boots. She grew up in Mechanicsville, Iowa, graduating from Lincoln Community High School. Her family spent countless weekends on the nearby lakes and rivers, swimming and water skiing.
After graduation, Susanne attended the University of Iowa and Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind.
Susanne lived in Arizona for a short while, before settling in sunny Florida for 40 years. She recently had returned to Iowa not much more than a year ago.
Susanne always was willing to try new adventures, once filling the position of host on the popular radio show, "Talk Of Tampa Bay." Later, she spent most of her career in hotel and resort management.
Susanne was a very outgoing person who enjoyed meeting new people and sharing life's experiences with family and fiends. She always saw the good in the people she met. Never one to shy away from a conversation, she always was making new friends and acquaintances.
We will deeply miss Susanne's vibrant and caring personality.
The family wishes to thank UnityPoint-Living Center East for their care given to Susanne during the final days, and Stewart Baxter Funeral Home for their assistance.
A gathering and luncheon to celebrate Susanne's life will be at Whitey's banquet room in Lisbon on Sunday, Feb. 18, from noon to 3 p.m. There will be a private family burial at Mechanicsville Rose Hill Cemetery prior.
