Susan Irene Voss, 72, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, in her home. Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with the Rev. Richard Okumu officiating. Burial: Stanwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence.
Survivors include her husband, John "Jack;" son, Bruce Voss (Doreen Fairley) of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Anthony and Hayley Hildebrand; brothers, Robert Bails of Springville, John (Karen) Bails of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Diane) Bails of Norway, James (Rosalyn) Bails of Waukee, William "Bill" (Kathy) Bails of Stanwood, Richard Bails of Stanwood, Charles "Chuck" (Laurie) Bails of Mount Vernon and Paul (Pam) Bails of Pavilion, Neb..; sisters, Mary Ellen (Byron) Knupp of Vinton, Linda Nemecek of Fishers, Ind., Nancy (L.A.) Forest of Iowa City, Margaret (Ronnie) Bails-Downs of Stanwood, Betty (Don) Conkel of Cedar Rapids and June (Loren) Walshire of Onaga, Kan.; brother-in-law, Richard (Barb) Voss of LeClaire; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen K. Voss-Hildebrand; sister, Sarah Menzer; sister-in-law, Mollie Bails; and niece, Marsha Krenz.
Susan was born Nov. 25, 1941, to John Ray and Barbara Irene Triechler Bails. She married John "Jack" Voss on Oct. 2, 1965, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville. Susan did home daycare for 29 years. She was a member of the Stanwood Library board and
Friends of the Library. Susan enjoyed her grandchildren's school events, puzzles, reading, cooking and camping. She also loved being around her family.
