Susan M. Travis, 66, of Coralville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017. An open house time of remembrance and sharing will be held on Friday, Jan. 27, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, 605 Kirkwood Ave., Iowa City.
Sue was born April 21, 1950, in the Navy Hospital in Bethesda, Md., the daughter of Thelma (Sofranko) and Richard Murray, and was raised and attended school in Lovilia, Iowa. Sue became employed by Sheller-Globe in 1974, where she was a faithful and loyal employee until cancer required her departure from International Automotive Components (IAC) in the fall of 2016.
Sue married the love of her life, Herk Travis, on Sept. 21, 1973. Together Sue and Herk enjoyed traveling, the Corvette Club, and their beloved NASCAR races. For many years, they would travel to Florida in February to attend the Daytona 500, visiting friends along the way. Herk preceded Sue in death in 2005.
Sue is survived by relatives in the Lovilia area, and a multitude of friends from her many years at Sheller-Globe and IAC. Friends will never forget Sue's quick wit and dry humor.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Iowa City.
