Susan K. "Sue" Sweeney, 58, of Iowa City, died suddenly Monday morning, Sept. 5, 2016, in Big Springs, Neb., while traveling home from a family reunion.
Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service in Iowa City. A celebration of Sue's life will begin Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Kyle Otterbein officiating. Visitation will also be held Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be Tuesday afternoon in the Cass Township Cemetery in Strawberry Point. Instead of flowers and plants, memorials may be directed to the Susan K. Sweeney Memorial Fund.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughter, Becky Sweeney of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Kathy Munter of Tucson, Ariz., and Nancy Munter (Todd) of Madison, Wis.; brothers, Ron Munter (Melanie) of California City, Calif., and Jack Munter of Denver, Colo.; seven nieces and eight nephews; 14 great-nieces and 10 great-nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Joe Sweeney (Margie) of Pueblo West, Colo., and Dan Sweeney of Cedar Rapids; and sisters-in-law, Donna Kelley and Sharon Sweeney, both of Iowa City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her mother- and father-in-law; two aunts; three uncles; a sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law.
