Susan Kay Soden, 65, of Marion, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. A private family funeral service will be held in Susan's honor. Public visitation will be Monday, Dec. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Susan Kay Soden was born Oct. 3, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Roy and Ila (Veber) Mulbrook. She graduated from Marion High School. Susan Mulbrook was united in marriage to David L. Soden on June 7, 1969, in Coggon. Susan was employed at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, as a LPN for many years. She later worked in sales for Recognition Products and retired in 1998. She was a volunteer for the U.S. GenWeb Project.
Susan will always be remembered for being a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her husband, David Soden of Marion; son, Jesse (Tami) Soden of Marion; three grandchildren, McKenzie, Maddison and Mason; two sisters, Gloria (Nick) Nielson and Becky Parks (Keith Kouba); three sisters-in-law, Nancy Soden, Susan Mast and Marilyn Mulbrook; and many nieces and nephews.
Susan was proceeded in death by her parents; a son, Dean Leroy Galvin; and brother, Larry Mulbrook.
Susan's family would like to express their gratitude to all who supported her and the family during her illness, including UnityPoint Hospice, UnityPoint Homecare, and our very dear extended family of friends.
