Susan Marie Knight, 68, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. To honor her wishes, a Private Family Service will be held. A Celebration of Life will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023, at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion.

Susan was born on Nov. 12, 1954, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of George Wayne and Mary Elizabeth (Thye) Harris. She was a 1972 graduate of Burlington High School and went on to attend Southeastern Community College. In 1973, Susan was united in marriage to Gregory Knight at Oak Street Baptist Church in Burlington. She worked as the school secretary for Indian Creek Elementary then as the Food Service Director at Linn-Mar for nearly 20 years. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. When not spending time with her family, she enjoyed gardening, reading, and volunteering. Susan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Susan is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 50 years, Greg; two sons, David (Amanda) Knight of Chicago, Ill., and Tyler (Maureen) Knight of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Hudson, Harper, Jack, Harris, and George; mother, Mary Harris of Marion; two brothers, Jeffery (Nicole) Harris of Nevada, Iowa, and Michael (Erin) Harris of Nauvoo, Ill.; sister, Lisa Harris of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, George; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Knight; and brother, Dan Harris.
