Susan J. Kinley, 60, of Iowa City, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics following a sudden illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mount Vernon, by the Rev. John R. Flaherty. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, with a vigil service beginning at 4 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.
Survivors include her siblings, Matt (Kathy) Kinley of Cedar Rapids, Dan Kinley of Cedar Rapids, Chris (Randy) Osborn of Mount Vernon and Katey Kinley of St. Paul, Minn,; nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Drew) Sommerfelt, Sarah Kinley and Bryan, Michelle and Aaron Osborn; five great-nieces and great-nephews; several aunts and cousins; and a special friend, Julie (McCormack) Anderson, who shared the same date of birth and countless memories.
Sue was born April 27, 1955, the eldest of Hubert L. and Grace V. (Ask) Kinley. She attended Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, where she was active in theater before moving to Mount Vernon and graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1973. Sue attended AIB College and Kirkwood Community College before beginning a career with the University of Iowa for nearly 40 years.
She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Iowa Lions Eye Bank.
