Susan Jaeger, 71, died Saturday, September 20, 2025, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 Thursday morning, September 25, 2025, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
Surviving are 2 children, Tony (Leesa) Jaeger, Lisa (Allen) Dirks; 5 grandchildren, Jordan Jaeger, Dillion (Nikki) Graf, LeAnn (Eric) Dillard, Karly (Scott Wilson) Dirks, Lexie Jaeger, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother Chuck Houston, and brother-in-law Tom Duffy. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John in January of 2025, and 3 sisters, Karen, Sherri and Sandy.
Susan Marie Houston was born February 6, 1954, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Vern Houston and Emma Joyce Mettler. She married John Jaeger, her high school sweetheart, in 1972. Sue graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the Class of 1973. In 1974 she started her 40-year career at Collins Radio, retiring in 2014 as an inspector.
Sue loved to sew, operated a craft business, had a store at Shops Above the Wapsi in Anamosa, Girl Trips, shopping, playing cards and tending to her flowers.
