SUSAN A. STICKNEY
St. Louis, Mo.
Susan A. Stickney, 69, found peace at home on March 5, 2021.
Susan was raised in Marion, Iowa, the youngest of the late Harold Stickney and Genevieve Tanner's four children. After earning a B.A. in social work from the University of Northern Iowa, she moved to Grand Lake, Colo., where she forged lifelong friendships and met her future husband.
After marriage, Susan and Grant Youngman moved to Peoria, Ill., where she worked for the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services. Their final move was to St. Louis, where they raised their children.
Susan was the proud mother of Meghan Pinson and Jon Youngman, beloved grandmother of Alex and Elliot, and dear sister of Tom, Jim, and the late Danny Stickney. She was adored by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and neighbors, and her life was bounded by love, family and many dear friends.
Susan was the consummate hostess; she loved a crowded table. She lived for catching up with friends, visiting family in Iowa, hunting mushrooms, raising golden retrievers and orange cats and reminiscing with her grandsons. The warmth of her stories, her radiant smile and her glamorous laugh will be deeply missed.
Susan and her late brother Danny will be interred at 10 a.m. July 24, 2021, at Cedar Memorial. A celebration of Susan's life, followed by a memorial luncheon, will be held at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids.
