Suits, Hattie May
Hattie May Suits, 90, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, in the NorthCrest Specialty Care, Waterloo. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, where a visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Burial: Baker Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Rudy Osterlee will officiate.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice J. Bascom of Cedar Rapids, Linda J. Bascom of Kaysville, Utah and Carol Ann (Danny) Niday of Waterloo; a brother, Floyd (Joyce) Davie of Cedar Rapids; and her grandchildren, Melody (Mark) Bryner, Nancy Woodward, Christine O'Connor, Kimberly Woodward, Cinthia Cooper, Lyle Woodward, Teresa Bullock, Sukie (Gary) Stagno, Haley (Dave) Hauschild, Andrea (Ken) Stoud, Carrie (Mike) McIntyre, Heather (Dave) Pitcher and Jamie Niday.
Also surviving are 32 great-grandchildren and many many great-great-grandchildren.
Hattie was born May 15, 1923, in Tama, Iowa, the daughter of John and Hattie (Trimble) Vail. She married Lyle Eugene Suits on Oct. 20, 1943, in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Hattie served a short time in the Navy during World War II.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
