Sue A. Hill, 59, passed away peacefully Friday, May 13, 2016, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, surrounded by her family. She had fought a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton, with Father Ardel Barta officiating. Interment will be at Garrison Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established.
Sue was born April 5, 1957, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids to Gene and Mary Lou (Broz) Shebetka, and graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids.
On Nov. 20, 1981, she was united in marriage to James Lawrence Hill in Butler, Okla. He preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 2014.
Sue was employed in the housekeeping and laundry department at the Vinton Lutheran Home and she loved her job. She was a member of the Benton County Cancer Survivors Club.
Her greatest joy in life came from being an adoring grandma to her grandchildren and spending time with her entire family.
She is survived by her father, Gene Shebetka of Cedar Rapids; her daughters, Jennifer (Travis) Losenicky of Garrison and Felicia (Chad Galli) of Urbana; her grandchildren, Tyler Losenicky and Kynsley Galli; and her brothers, Steve (Lori) Shebetka of Walford, Jim (Jodie) Shebetka of Cedar Rapids and Bill (Kelly) Shebetka of Westchester, Ohio.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou; her sister, Ann Anderson; and her niece, Melissa Anderson.
