Sue Hathaway, 76, of Keystone, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 15, 2024, with family by her side. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Blairstown Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Diane S. Vorhies will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Sue was born on October 2, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Alvin and Lucille (Dietrich) Erger. She married Robert C. Hathaway on October 20, 1979, in Nashua. She was known in the community for her delicious cakes. She spent many years baking cakes for everyone’s special occasions and was the former owner of Sue’s Bake Shop in Belle Plaine, Iowa. Sue was a woman of faith and an active member of the Blairstown Presbyterian Church.
Sue is survived by her children, Rob (Kandon) Hathaway of Belle Plaine, Iowa, David (Chun) Hathaway of New York and Chris (Mike) Vest of Belle Plaine, Iowa, her grandchildren, Blake (Nicolle ) Youngman of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Chelsey (Jared) Steckly of Williamsburg, Iowa, Samantha (Eric) Brecht of Amana, Iowa and Arielle (Jakob) Knapp of Marengo, Iowa, and seven great-grandchildren whom she cherished very much. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. Hathaway, her parents and a brother.
