Sue Ellen Schollman, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday June 22, 2024, in Mercy Medical Center. Sue has been cremated honoring her wishes. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Also honoring Sue’s wishes, there will be no funeral.
Sue was born on September 2, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Alice (Giffee) Schollman. She was united in marriage to Richard (Bruce) Appleoff on August 27, 1976 in Rock Island, Illinois. Sue was a Social Worker with Linn County MHDD for 41 years, until she retired to watch her grandchildren. After retirement and her granddaughters entering school, Sue was active volunteering for Metro Catholic Outreach and St Pius X Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends, spending time with family, doing pilates, and spoiling her pets.
Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Richardson and husband Todd of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her grandchildren, Harper and Hadley Richardson, her brother, Dave (Kathy) Schollman, nieces Stephanie (Kyle Lewis) Schollman and Carrie (Dan) Larson along with her great niece Bryn Lewis, and great nephews Connor Lewis, Jack and Ben Larson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Bruce.
