Stuart Troxell Parke, 68, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, at home. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at First United Methodist Church in Marion by the Rev. Mike Morgan. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Parke of Center Point; three children, Jonathon Parke (Dr. Maggie Teliska) of Holland, Mich., Kelly Magers (Marc) of Fairfax and Andrew Parke (Carrie) of Marion; three granddaughters, Brenna Parke, Anndee Magers and Brielle Parke; two grandsons, Bryce and Brayden Parke; a brother, David Parke of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Lois Shellenberger of Center Point; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John and Dorothy Parke; a brother, Mike Parke; a sister, Ann Cowles; and his father and mother-in-law, Ross and Mildred Shellenberger.
Stuart was born March 30, 1946, the son of Dr. John and Dorothy (Pierce) Parke in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and attended the University of Iowa. On June 14, 1969, he married Susan Jane Shellenberger in Libertyville, Ill. Stuart owned and operated Parker Midland Corporation in Marion.
Stuart was a member of the BMW Car Club of America. He was a car enthusiast, enjoying auto racing and collecting cars. He enjoyed following the stock exchange and trading stocks. Stuart was very giving of his time and handy skills. He had a good sense of humor, even in his last days. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family and especially his grand-children. He was an amazing husband, dad and PaPa.
Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or Mercy Hospice in memory of Stuart.
