Struve, Ruth M.
Ruth M. Struve, 98, a resident of Keystone Cedars, died Monday, April 29. 2013, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha after a short illness. Services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include a son, James (Sandy) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Becky Struve of Chariton; seven grandchildren, Rick Struve, Tom (Tanja) Struve, Angela (Mike) Vaupel, Karen (David) Huber, Brian Struve, Jenny (Paul) Storer and Cathe (Jeff) Franz; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a dear family friend, MaryAnn Krahmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfrid; a son, Roger; one brother, Dick; and a sister, Martha.
Ruth was born April 1, 1915, in Iowa City, the daughter of Edward and Myra Ritter Schump. She married Wilfrid L. Struve on Oct. 9, 1937, in Iowa City. He died in 2003. Ruth was a homemaker and a faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the White Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, Cedar Chapter of Eastern Star and volunteered for many years at the gift shop at St. Luke's Hospital.
Ruth enjoyed cooking, traveling and especially the time spent with her many friends and beloved family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
