Stroud, Robert L.
Robert L. Stroud, 83, of Monticello, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab. Center in Monticello. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at New Life Community Church of the Nazarene in Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Doug DiBell.
Robert was born on Oct. 29, 1929, in Fordland, Mo., the son of Sigle “Edwin” and Mary “Emma” (Bumgardner) Stroud. He married Dorothy McGuirk on Dec. 16, 1959 in Marshfield, Mo., and were later divorced. He was baptized on Aug. 29, 1982, at the New Life Community Church.
Survivors include his children, Lee Stroud of Arvada, Colo., Doug Stroud of Greenville, Ky. and Charlotte (Chad) Smith of Monticello; three grandchildren, Robert Lee Stroud III, and Garris and Amara Stroud; siblings, Don (Diane) Stroud, Geneva (Clovis) Young, Juanita Laughlin, Delores “Boots” Holland and Annabelle (Walter) Baldwin; and the mother of his children, Dorothy Ehlts-Wille.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dwayne; and two sisters, Edna and Norma Stroud.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to New Life Community Church.
