Stroud, Linda Kay

Linda Kay Stroud, 54, formerly of Iowa City, died Oct. 11, 2011, in Springfield, Mo., from complications of a stroke. A sharing time for family and friends will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service, where there will be a period of visitation after 5 p.m. until the sharing time begins.

She was born Linda Kay Paintin on Jan. 9, 1957, to James and Doris (Bell) Paintin in Iowa City. She attended school in the Iowa City Community School District and she continued to live in the area until 1999, when she moved to Alton, Mo.

Linda loved animals and was skilled in interacting with them. She was a free spirit who was happiest being barefoot and in jeans living out in the country with her family and her animals.

She is survived by her 11 children, Jeramie (Cinnamon) Stroud, Amy Stroud (Kelly Carrell), Paul Stroud (Kristen Mehring), Andrea Stroud, Joshua Robinson, Stephan Robinson, Tonya Stroud (Jeremy Seering), Cody Shay, Zachary Stroud, Tasha Stroud and Kristen Claman; her siblings, Carolyn Henderson, Cyndi Christensen, Ric Christensen, Marge Polman, Kathy Jackson and Wanda Lindaman; 16 grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Linda's memory.
