Stritesky, Betty Jean
Betty Jean Stritesky, 77, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, with burial to follow in Czech National Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids.
Betty was born May 20, 1935, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Louis and Angeline (Asenbrener) Stritesky. Betty was a caregiver many years for her parents and siblings. She worked as a cook, to include Maid-Rite, American Legion Bowling Alley and most recently for Sunflower Samples at local retailers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting “the farm.” She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and going to casinos. Betty took pride in maintaining her home and her Czech heritage.
Betty is survived by her sister-in-law, Peg Stritesky of Iowa City; four nieces, Julie (Ron) Siepker of Manson, Lisa (Wade) Niewoehner of Manson, Pam (Brian) Worden of Iowa City and Kim Stritesky of Hiawatha; great-nieces and nephews Adam and Jacob Siepker, Ella and Lydia Niewoehner and McKenzee Worden; as well as her cousins.
Betty was preceded in death by parents; and three brothers, Donald, Louis Jr. and Robert “Herm”Stritesky.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
