Streeper, Kathleen
Kathleen Streeper,88, of Monticello, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Darryl Larson will officiate at the services.

Survivors include a son, Gene (Pam) Streeper; a granddaughter, Sandy (Kelly) Treviranus; and two great-grandchildren, Kory and Katie, all of Langworthy; five siblings, Leona Bender, Betty (Norman) Hinrichs, Mildred (Harvey) Hinrichs and Paul Rieniets, all of Monticello, and Ray (Lorna) Rieniets ofMarion.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Walter.
Kathleen E. Rieniets was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Richland Township, Jones County, Iowa, near Monticello. She was the daughter of Gerhard and Margaret Guyan Rieniets. Kathleen received her early education in the rural schools of Richland Township. She graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1940. Kathleen received her normal teaching certificate and taught in Richland Township Schools and the Frog Hollow School. Kathleen Rieniets married Walter Streeper on March 7, 1943, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in Hardscrabble and later between Ryan and Coggon and then near Prairieburg. They moved to acreage in Langworthy in 1969. Kathleen returned to college and received her teaching degree. She was a first-grade teacher at Xavier Grade School in Dyersville for 19 years, from 1968 until she retired in 1987. Kathleen was a life long member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She was baptized on July 7, 1922, and confirmed her faith on April 5, 1936.
