Strasser, Dennis E.
Dennis E. Strasser, 45, died suddenly at his home in Hiawatha on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2011. Memorial services will be held at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North English at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, with the Rev. Jim Bringman officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. His ashes will be buried in the North English Cemetery.
Dennis Eugene Strasser was born May 6, 1966, near Sigourney, Iowa, a son of Larry and Rose M. (Brown) Strasser. He grew up in the South English community, graduated from English Valleys High School in North English and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. Denny was married to Elizabeth M. Conner on Oct. 26, 1991. They later divorced. He made his home in Homestead, Shellsburg, and most recently Hiawatha.
Denny worked in sales most of his life. He worked at Slumberland, All Seasons John Deere and Greene Valley Ag and Turf most recently. Dennis loved sports and watching his son's activities.
He is survived by a son, Nicklaus Strasser of Homestead; his father, Larry (Joan) Strasser of South English; his mother, Rose Coffman of South English; a sister, Francine (Terry) Clubb, and their children, Whitney and Cassie, of Hedrick; and stepbrothers: Mark (Lori) Miller and their children, Lauren and Lexi; Steve (Tina) Miller of Mesa, Ariz.; Brent Coffman of South English; Brad Coffman of South English; and Kim Coffman of Houston, Texas.
Denny was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jack Coffman; and a special aunt, Tammy Mast.
A general memorial fund has been established.
