Stoner, Kathryn H.
Kathryn H. Stoner, 91, a resident of West Ridge Care Center, died there Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from complications of Alzheimer's disease. Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. The Rev. T. Edwards Breed will officiate. Burial: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; a son, David and his wife, Gail, of Boulder, Colo.; daughter-in-law, Judy Stoner of Des Moines; four grandchildren, Heather, Deb, Brian and Ashley; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Gary; two sisters and three brothers.
Kathryn was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Christian and Mary Keistler Schamberger. She married Walter I. Stoner on July 8, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. Kathryn was a claims supervisor for Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. and retired from there after more than 25 years of service.
Kathryn and Walt were charter members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and was a member of several local card clubs. Kathryn and Walt loved the adventure of experiencing and visiting every state in their travel trailer.
Kathryn was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family suggests memorial donations may be given to the charity of the donor's choice.
