Stoddard, Ronald E.

Ronald E. Stoddard, 68, of Iowa City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, following a short illness. In honor of Ron's wishes, no services are planned at this time. Lensing Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.

Ron was born in St. Catherine, Mo., on Oct. 19, 1941, the son of Marion and Ethel (McCollum) Stoddard. At a young age, his family moved from Missouri to Cedar Rapids, where Ron grew up and attended Cedar Rapids schools. For many years, Ron drove a dump truck for various construction companies throughout the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area before retiring in 2004. In his free time, Ron enjoyed fishing, camping, gambling and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Karen of Iowa City; a son, Adam Stoddard of Anamosa; two brothers, Donald (Jean) Stoddard of Alpha, Ill., and Richard (Mary) Stoddard of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Doris Englert of Cedar Rapids; three stepdaughters, Cindy Baines of Iowa City, Tammy (Dan) Meeker of Bettendorf and Julie Taylor of Iowa City; three stepsons, David (Robyn) Stoddard of Panama City, Fla., Bob Stoddard of Iowa City and Jeff (Caroline) Stoddard of Iowa City; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.
