Stewart, Dorothy E. 'Dodi'
Dorothy E. “Dodi” Stewart, 78, of 733 71st Street NE, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ted Miller to officiate. Private family burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Friday after Noon.
Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Charles; one daughter, Susan (Ken) Baker of Cedar Rapids; a son, David, fiancé, Alissa Bowman of Des Moines; one sister, Priscilla Johnson Hopp of Evanston, Ill.; and one brother, Roger (Charlotte) Johnson of Yonkers, N.Y. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Benjamin and Emily Baker.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Romaine Johnson.
Dodi was born on June 24, 1931, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of David and Elsie Lundin Johnson. She attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. She married Charles “Chuck” Stewart on June 28, 1958, in Rockford. Dodi taught elementary school for several years and later was a child care provider as well as being a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and PEO Chapter GM. Dodi was very caring, always the first to remember birthdays, and anniversaries by sending cards and letters to both friends and family. She loved children and had a warm and engaging smile that would brighten anyone's day. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to First Presbyterian Church in Dodi's name.
